A vote in Northhampton brought the end of a cell phone reception system installation. It was to be installed by the American Tower Corp. Even though the 200 people that voted against it feel like they’ve won, the battle has just begun. A board member stated that ATC would fight the issue in court.
To the applause of more than 200 people packed into the Richboro Middle School auditorium, the Northampton supervisors Tuesday night voted unanimously to withdraw the permit for and take “any other appropriate legal action” to fight a proposed cellphone reception system being installed by the American Tower Corp.
Board members Frank Rothermel, James Cunningham, George Komelasky, Eileen Silver and Kimberly Rose all voted yes on the motion made by Komelasky.
Township officials said the permit would be withdrawn early Wednesday morning. Solicitor Mike Savona said it’s probable ATC would immediately fight the action in court, but that he and Daniel Cohen, a Pittsburgh attorney brought in by Northampton officials to help in the fight, would do whatever they could.
