A vote in Northhampton brought the end of a cell phone reception system installation. It was to be installed by the American Tower Corp. Even though the 200 people that voted against it feel like they’ve won, the battle has just begun. A board member stated that ATC would fight the issue in court.

To the applause of more than 200 people packed into the Richboro Middle School auditorium, the Northampton supervisors Tuesday night voted unanimously to withdraw the permit for and take “any other appropriate legal action” to fight a proposed cellphone reception system being installed by the American Tower Corp.

Board members Frank Rothermel, James Cunningham, George Komelasky, Eileen Silver and Kimberly Rose all voted yes on the motion made by Komelasky.

Township officials said the permit would be withdrawn early Wednesday morning. Solicitor Mike Savona said it’s probable ATC would immediately fight the action in court, but that he and Daniel Cohen, a Pittsburgh attorney brought in by Northampton officials to help in the fight, would do whatever they could.

A forty year old amusement park has gotten a face lift. A $10 million dollar facelift makes Kings Island a whole new adventure. Four new shows, food, cosmetic changes, and a bigger water park are some of the bigger changes to the park. The new park will open once again on April 28^th.

A $10 million expansion of its Soak City water park isn’t the only new feature at Kings Island this year as the amusement park celebrates its 40th anniversary season.

Kings Island will unveil four new shows and food. Thrill seekers will also notice some cosmetic changes such as new colors on the Invertigo roller coaster (aqua track and royal blue supports).

There may be a glimmer of hope in Albany. According to the records, the number of bankruptcy cases filed in Albany were down to ten percent. Even though this percentage accounts for the first three months of the year, this is still progress. According to prior years this decrease is consistent.

Bankruptcy cases filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Albany were down about 10 percent during the first three months of 2012 from a year ago.

According to the number of cases that had been documented by the court’s computer system as of Friday afternoon, there have been 880 bankruptcy filings so far this year. That’s a 10 percent drop from the first three months of 2011, when there were 982 bankruptcy filings, although this quarter’s numbers are still preliminary.

Recent years have not been easy for the local real estate agent. These lean times have thinned out the profession until only the steadfast and stubborn remain. And new studies may lead to fewer new comers to the industry.

Don’t look now, but a couple of job-hunting portals aren’t exactly bullish on real estate careers.

Monster.com has listed the profession among those that “began to die” in 2011. “Real estate, formerly the second-favorite job of actors and parents returning to work, is no longer such a sure thing,” the website said, citing a decline in income that has resulted in agents having to work harder in order to earn less.

Other professions cited as “dying” in the Monster list were U.S. Postal Service carrier, video store clerk, highway toll collector, stockbroker, and, um, newspaper reporter.
